First Annual Breaking the Silence Awards Gala Taking Place on January 22, 2011

Charleston, SC, November 10, 2010—The Zonta Club of Charleston will honor and recognize, for the first event ever, individuals and organizations making a difference in lives of domestic violence victims. The First Annual Breaking the Silence Awards Gala will take place on January 22, 2011, starting at 6pm at the Harbour Club located in downtown Charleston. The key note speaker is Solicitor Scarlett Wilson.

The event, hosted by the Zonta Club of Charleston, is benefiting Liza’s Lifeline of South Carolina that raises funds to assist domestic violence victims, and Zonta’s service projects. Winners of the First Annual Breaking the Silence Awards will be announced in the following categories: Best in Media, Best in Business, Best Volunteer and Best Professional. Liza’s Lifeline Person of the Year for lifelong achievement will be selected by the board of Liza’s Lifeline of South Carolina.

“In 2006, South Carolina ranked number one nationally in the number of women killed by male intimate partners. Domestic violence has become a crisis in South Carolina. The office of Attorney General has named it the number one crime problem in our state. Zonta set out to create an annual award program that each year will recognize those who are putting their lives on the line and are truly devoted to making a difference in lives of domestic violence victims,” says Vladia Jurcova-Spencer, president of the Zonta Club of Charleston.

“For some this involvement means risking their lives by answering domestic disturbance calls, others fight their battle in the court rooms. For most parts, these individuals are not recognized for their tireless work and we want to rectify that,” Jurcova-Spencer continues. “We also encourage business and organizations to step up and compete for honors.”

Tickets are $75 per person and include the cocktail hour, dinner and award ceremony. Cocktail attire. To purchase tickets, please visit www.zontaofcharleston.com.

Charleston’s Action Sports Center Kicks Off Their Annual Holiday New and Use Sports Gear Drive for Kids in Need

Air & Earth’s 13 Days of Xmas “Active Green” Toy Drive Runs December 1-20, 2010

CHARLESTON, SC, November 29, 2010 — Do you have an old skateboard getting dusty in the closet? Or, maybe there is a surfboard just sitting in the garage? Are you really using that longboard? Holidays are the perfect time to recycle the old sports gear in your closet and help kids, both little and big, have a toy this holiday season. In an “active green” way that defines their mission, Air & Earth announce that they will be hosting their unique “active green” Toy Drive again for the 2010 Holiday Season. By collecting used and new sports gear and toys to help kids stay active, Air & Earth’s 13 Days of Xmas runs from December 1st to 20th, 2010.

Founders Adam Von Ins and Elea Faucheron are so thankful for the support Charleston has given them that last year they created the 13 Days of Xmas toy drive. With a dual focus on exercising and recycling, the toy drive became a huge success. They collected more than 1,000 used toys and recycled them to locals in need. Including 27 families overlooked by other charities.

“We’re just amazed at how much support we continue to receive from all the board sport lovers, and their families,” says Elea Faucheron when asked about this unique benefit drive. She explains the traditional 12 days of Christmas are all about “what my true love gave to me. We’re so thankful; we created the 13th day of Xmas so we could give back.”

Air & Earth’s 13 Days of Xmas are focused on making toys available to those in need missed by traditional charitable drives. Faucheron and Von Ins urge those who know of someone in need of help this holiday season to contact them. In addition, they are helping local organizations including Windwood Farms, East Cooper Community Outreach and Louie’s Kids collect specific items such as weights, bands, jump ropes, exercise balls, basketballs, baseballs, football, bike helmets and more.

Air & Earth are giving back in two ways:

1. Active Green Toy Drive: Air & Earth support recycling, reusing and reducing by accepting used items. “We’re focusing on recycling stuff that helps kids get active,” Von Ins says.

“While the used items might not be unwrapped under the tree, it’s still a great opportunity for locals to clean house and help someone! For example, last year we collected used skateboards and gave them to kids who desperately wanted to skate, but had no chance of getting one. Even though it was used, they were so happy! And, it allowed donating families give without spending cash; one man’s junk is often another man’s treasure,” says Faucheron.

“Since our prime focus is helping kids be active, we are specifically searching for used sporting good items in good condition we can recycle,” Von Ins says. “We know there are plenty of locals with old stuff just gathering dust. If you have a skateboard, surfboard, skim board, body board, snowboards or kiteboard just sitting around, please donate!” says Faucheron. “We’re also collecting things associated with these sports: like used helmets, pads and wetsuits.”

Good Used / New Sporting Goods Items accepted include:

- Ground Sports: Skateboards, Wave boards, Inline Skates & Longboards

- Water Sports: Surfboards, Stand-up Paddleboards, Wakeboarding & Kiteboarding

- Snow Sports: Snowboards & Snow Skis

- Team Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer Ball and Volley Ball

- Helmets, Pads, Wetsuits and any accessory complementing the above items

For those rainy days, you can also donate the following items. They must be new and in original packaging:

- Board Games

- Playing Cards

- Art & School Supplies

Air & Earth are accepting donations from both individuals and businesses. Von Ins says: “If you know kids needing toys, please contact us!”

2. To help you get a new toy or a gift, Air & Earth will give a $5 gift card to each donator. They will also offer 13 bigger kid toys at drastically reduced pricing to help those less fortunate. Presented by Buddy the Elf, one item will be featured daily starting December 1st on the store’s Facebook page and website. Learn about each item online at www.CatchSomeAir.us.

Air & Earth’s two-story surf, skate and kite sports center is located at 1313 Long Grove Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. For more information, please visit www.catchsomeair.us.
Learn What It Takes to Build a Treasure Collection on December 16, 2010

Charleston, SC, November 30, 2010 – Treasure hunters like Rich Mutschler are a special breed. This lifelong passion requires an extensive knowledge of history, special training in identifying real treasure from fakes, a patient mind and significant investment. On December 16, 2010, at 6 p.m., all local history and treasure buffs will get a chance to spend an evening with a modern day Indiana Jones, Rich Mutschler, and learn how and where to start a collection.

Voyager International Inc. is planning a treasure hunting expedition to Bali in January 2011. Interested participants will learn about unique items that they will be able to purchase on this cultural and trade expedition to Bali.

Mutschler believes that responsible trading of historic commodities has to start with education and training. “Our expeditions are so popular that large groups have to wait up to three or more years to be accommodated,” says Rich Mutschler, the president of Voyager International Inc.

Voyager International Inc., an international corporation that trades ethnographic art and investment and museum quality maritime treasure items, selected Charleston to open its first retail store, Galleons Lost (www.galleonslost.com), in April 2010. The gallery offers the Treasure of the Island Kings collection, authentic artifacts and rare objects from the spice routes to China dated back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The gallery is located at 165 King Street, downtown Charleston, SC.

Rich Mutschler, ethnographic art dealer, expedition leader and internationally acclaimed musician, founded Voyager International after his 1985 trip to Bali. Mutschler fell in love with the diverse cultures of Bali, and the preservation of this culture became his life’s mission. He respects the very fine balance between the preservation and the sale of historic commodities.

To participate in the lecture, please rsvp at info@galleonslost.com. The lecture starts promptly at 6 p.m. at Galleons Lost located at 165 King Street in downtown Charleston.

About Galleons Lost:

Galleons Lost offers unique maritime treasure including shipwreck coins, gold doubloons, pieces of eight, black pearls, gold treasure and estate jewelry from aristocratic families, blue and white Ming porcelain, silver jewelry made from salvage silver from centuries old shipwrecks, Spanish and Portuguese cannon and Pirate Era weaponry as well as oriental rugs, exotic wood art, Tibetan coral, Keris knives and ethnographic art. The store is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm.

About Voyager International:

Voyager International Group is a world acquisition and trade service organization specializing in the importation and sale of maritime treasure related items, numismatic rarities, ethnographic art, investment quality stringed musical instruments and the design, fabrication and restoration of gold and silver related products.
