Back by popular demand, Pecha Kucha Night Charleston Volume 3 (PKN3) presented by South Carolina’s Council on Competitiveness will take place on June 3, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. on a lawn behind the Civic Design Center, 85 Calhoun Street, downtown Charleston, SC. PKN3 will bring creative minds together for an evening of short presentations that reveal presenters’ passions and inspirations. Tickets are limited, admission is $5. Bring your chairs and blankets. Pizza and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale.

I got a chance to taste the amazing food creations from Iverson Catering at the Spoleto Scene party and I cannot wait to see Iverson’s presentation! Poet and editor of the Post and Courier’s Preview, Marcus Amaker, who is also a board member of the Charleston Arts Coalition, will host the event.

Pecha Kucha Night (Japanese for the sound of conversation), founded in Tokyo and now presented in over 135 cities around the globe, was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network and show their work in public. Each speaker is allotted 20 slides for 20 seconds each for a six-minute and 40-second presentation. Pecha Kucha Night Charleston so far included presentations from creative professionals in fields encompassing culinary arts, graphic design, architecture, urban planning, graphic and fashion design, photography, and the performing arts.
